Beebe Medical Center announced  that Paul Minnick,  has been promoted to the position of Executive Vice President/ Chief Operating Officer.

Since 2010, Minnick has served as Vice President of Patient Care Services, and has been responsible for the hospital’s nursing units and for developing and implementing nursing strategy and system policies to ensure high  quality patient care.  Through  Minnick’s leadership and philosophy of staff empowerment and accountability, and decentralized decision making, several protocols were established that have resulted in improved patient outcomes and higher patient satisfaction ratings.

In his new position, Minnick is responsible for all clinical and other operational departments throughout the hospital, as well as all operations at outpatient facilities throughout the medical organization’s service area. He continues as a member of the Medical Center’s Executive Staff and reports to  CEO Jeffrey M. Fried.

Minnick brought to Beebe Medical Center more than 25 years of experience in the clinical nursing profession while working at leading medical teaching institutions.  More than 20 of those years were in clinical leadership positions, most of which were at the University of Pennsylvania Health System.

While  at Penn he also served as the Assistant Dean for Clinical Practice at the university’s School of Nursing, and completed a   Johnson & Johnson Wharton Nurse Fellowship. Minnick also brought to Beebe Medical Center process improvement experience in the areas of Six Sigma and Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, as well as in a hospital organizational model shown to improve the quality and safety of patient care.

Minnick joined Beebe Medical Center from Virtua Memorial Hospital in Mount Holly, New Jersey, where he had served as the Vice President of Patient Care.

Minnick’s early nursing experiences were as a staff nurse and nurse coordinator at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. He earned his Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Nursing from the University of Delaware and his Master’s of Science Degree in Nursing Administration from LaSalle University in Philadelphia.

 Cole joins AB&C

 Valerie-Cole-Portrait-200x300Valerie Cole has joined Aloysius, Butler & Clark  as a Digital Media Analyst. She will analyze online media programs, develop campaign performance reports, incorporate measurement into current marketing initiatives and report on clients’ brand presence across social media channels.

“Clients are requesting more advanced online measurement, so we need to bring in talented people, who can provide these skills,” notes John Hawkins, president and CEO of ab+c. “Valerie’s previous experience with Google Analytics and other campaign measurement tools will benefit the agency tremendously.” Previously, Cole worked as a strategy analyst at DiD, a marketing agency in Philadelphia. She earned a bachelor’s degree  in communication from Drexel University.

Devona Williams with Mark  Dobosz,  SCORE Foundation PresidentDevona Williams,  CEO of Goeins-Williams Associates, Inc. of Clayton, Del.  recently participated in an intensive professional development conference, “Working On Your Business not In Your Business”, January 23-24 in Dallas, Texas. The conference was sponsored by Sam’s Clubs and the SCORE foundation. Williams, representing Delaware, was one of 102 Small Business National Winners of Sam’s Club Holiday Giving Award which recognized two businesses for each state. The other winning business for Delaware was  Caffe Gelato, Newark.

The award was presented in recognition of Williams’ achievement as a successful small business that has benefited from SCORE mentors.

Financial Literacy Institute board members named

The Delaware Financial Literacy Institute (DFLI), the state’s premier financial literacy program funded by tax-deductible contributions and grants, recently named the following new members to its 2013-2014 Board of Directors.

Rick Solloway, Investment Representative, Raymond James & Associates  and Instructor, The Money School

Dion Williams, CEO, Del-One Federal Credit Union

DFLI Board President Emilio Cooper said, “We’re fortunate to have Cher and Rick bring the energy and commitment they demonstrated as members of our Advisory Council to the DFLI Board. And we’re pleased to welcome Dion and his significant experience leading credit unions to the Board.” DFLI Board members serve two-year terms.

Founded as The Money School in 1999 by then- State Treasurer Jack Markell, DFLI incorporated in 2001 and opened its office in 2002. Since then, DFLI has provided more than 5,000 free classes, events and programs statewide.
