chesChesapeake Utilities Corporation  announced the launch of the Chesapeake Cares holiday program partnership with the Food Bank of Delaware.

Chesapeake offers natural gas and propane service in areas south of the C&D Canal.

The company and the Food Bank of Delaware will provide food and supplies to Delaware families facing hardship this holiday season. Chesapeake employees and family members are volunteering to collect food and gifts to assemble 600 care packages and distribute the items to the community on December 17th and 18th in Dover and Georgetown.

“This is something that we as a company and our employees want to do to help our communities that are in need,”  said  Michael P. McMasters, President & CEO of Chesapeake Utilities Corporation. “We live and work in these communities, and our commitment to them extends beyond simply meeting the energy needs of businesses and residents.”

“We are thrilled to partner with Chesapeake Utilities Corporation to support the Chesapeake Cares holiday program,” said  Chad Robinson, Milford Branch Director of the Food Bank of Delaware. “Chesapeake shares our goals and aspirations to make the holidays a happy and memorable time for those in our community, and we are confident that our partnership will make a tremendous difference for families this holiday season. It is great to have a local company proactively seek us out and have its employees actively engage with community members. We could not spread the holiday cheer this season to people in need without their help.”

As part of the Chesapeake Cares program, the company is inviting the community to participate in the Sharing Fund. Chesapeake Utilities Corporation created the Sharing  fund with donations provided by customers, employees and the community to ensure that the elderly, ill and those facing financial hardship are not forgotten during the cold winter months when energy bills are at their peak.

Grants are available to income eligible customers of Chesapeake Utilities and Sharp Energy with additional amounts available for those over the age of 60. Also, the  program has additional grants for appliance purchases or repair; the recently unemployed; and customers who are in need due to serious illness or family tragedy.
