Omnimetrix LLC, an Acorn Energy, Inc. company that provides back-up power monitoring services, has  reported success in maintaining emergency power in hard-hit Ocean County, N.J.

Acorn, based in Montchanin,  Del., invests in young companies involved in energy management.

Ocean County, one of the areas hardest hit by Hurricane Sandy, has been able to keep essential services running through the use of generator back-up power.  All of the county’s generators, all monitored by Omnimetrix , started. That has not been the case in New York City and elsewhere.

The generators are providing power to emergency 911 centers, jails, bridges and dams, water treatment plants, court houses, police departments, and fire stations.

“Because the Omnimetrix  device monitors hundreds of data points and provides current and historic performance data, this county has remote visibility into the functionality of its back-up power. This visibility allows them to conduct proactive maintenance year round and respond to the fuel consumption of these generators to help ensure these critical areas maintain power,” said Deena Redding, president of  Omnimetrix.
