Motech Americas LLC,  introduced  the new, XS+ series of monocrystalline solar power modules. The subsidiary of the Taiwan company is based in Glasgow, Del.

Motech  said he addition to its product line came in response to requests from its  worldwide customer base. The improved module design provides flexibility for solar installers and developers, according to a  release.

“This new 320W module with an efficiency of 16.5 percent  is exactly what our customers have been asking for. The flexibility of mounting sizes and improved design will lower system and installation costs, while increasing yield for our customers,” said Derick Botha, vice president of sales and marketing, Motech Americas. “Increased power and efficiencies and of course focus on quality and reliability helps drive revenue for developers, installers and investors.”

The  new XS+ Series, manufactured in Delaware, is not subject to the recent U.S. import tariffs imposed on solar cells produced in China. The prices of solar cells have been dropping.

Motech came to Delaware after  acquiring  solar assets from GE, including a plant in Glasgow that was originally operated by AstroPower, a  now-defunct Delaware company that was a pioneer in the industry and used technology based on University of Delaware research.

Motech has benefited from the state’s mandate that a portion of electrical power must come from alternative sources and on requirements for some projects that modules must be made in the U.S.
