Apple rolls out Mini version of iPad

Image courtesy of Apple.Apple decided to not take an  aggressive stance  on price and offered the iPad Mini at a starting price of $329. It had been speculated that the price might be as low as $250 to compete with the $200 Amazon Kindle Fire. The Mini was announced at an event on Tuesday.

The new iPad will feature a 7.9-inch display, a camera, hundreds of thousands of apps and other features of the larger iPad. It will also offer cellular data service that will not require a contract.

Apple also announced it will offer fourth generation of the larger iPad with a faster Wi-Fi system that accesses the Internet.

Apple introduced a high-end laptop computer. The Macbook Pro features the high resolution display used in the iPad and a $1,700 price tag.

The quick update of the iPad may reflect more intense competition in the tablet market, with Microsoft announcing ts own product. Microsoft is also rolling out the Windows 8 operating system.

Google, meanwhile is rolling out a Chrome laptop computer for $250. The computer will be available at Best Buy stores.

The new iPad with Wi-Fi only will be available on Nov. 2, with cellular data models available later in November.

Both Microsoft and Apple operate stores in Christiana Mall, southeast of Newark.
