$50 million lottery ticket sold

A  $50 million lottery ticket has been sold.

The Delaware Lottery announced that  Cutrona’s Liquors,4623 N. Market Street, near Wilmington sold the sole $50 million annuity Powerball jackpot winning ticket for the Oct. 3 drawing. The cash value is $33.05 million. The retailer will receive a $10,000 selling bonus.

The winner has not yet come forward to claim their prize, the lottery announced.  The winner has the choice to remain anonymous.

This is the eighth Delaware Powerball  jackpot winner and the fifth largest Powerball  jackpot won in Delaware. The last time a winning POWERBALL ticket was sold in Delaware was in February 2009. Two individuals presented one of two jackpot winning tickets to claim half of the $174.4 million top prize.

“We are excited that the eighth jackpot winning Powerball  ticket in Delaware Lottery history may be claimed in the near future,” said Delaware Lottery Director, Vernon Kirk. “It is very important that the winner seek professional financial assistance before claiming this life-­-changing sum.”

Powerball winners have one year from the drawing date to claim their prize. He or she has 60 days following the date of ticket validation to decide between 29-­-year, 30-­-installment annuity, or the one-­-time cash “lump sum” amount.
