The Pomeroy Trail will officially open on Monday.
A ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. At the junction of the Pomeroy and James F. Hall trails in Newark, off Wyoming Road on the south edge of the city.
A sister trail to the James F. Hall Trail, the Pomeroy and Newark Rail Trail extends north through Newark along the old Pomeroy and Newark rail line into the White Clay Creek State Park.
The two-mile long-trail provides direct access to Main Street and the University of Delaware’s Laird Campus.
Expected to be in attendance will be U.S. Sen. Tom Carper, Gov. Jack Markell and Newark Mayor Vance Funk.
