First State Manufacturing co-owner and Lt. Governor candidate Sher Valenzuela has the distraction of a parody website on the eve of her speech before the Republican National Convention.
The Huffington Post reported that a graphic designer snapped up the FirstStateManufacturing.com URL and launched the site lampooning the company’s success at getting Small Business Administration loans and federal contacts. Also added was a site on the social network Twitter.
A part of the site was an actual YouTube video centering on First State and its relationship with the SBA.
Small Business Administration loans are partly supported by the government agency, but are granted by banks and other lenders. Some Republicans have called for the abolishing or cutting back the SBA.
While well known in Delaware, First State’s story was picked up by the national media when Valenzuela was invited to give a speech at the convention. First State’s actual website is www.firststatemfg.com.
