Delmarva Power reports fewer than 400 customers were without power late Sunday morning after storms ripped through southern Sussex County overnight. Delaware Electric Cooperative reported about 75 outages.
Widespread damage was reported with lightning suspected of causing a number of fires in an area running from Georgetown and south, WBOC TV reported.
The Cape Gazette reported widespread property damage from flooding in Rehoboth Beach. Rainfall totaled four inches as of midnight.
A flash flood warning remained in effect for a small area of Delaware after heavy rainfall overnight, with the possibility of more thunderstorms Sunday afternoon.
The storm was unusual, since it involved only a small part of a small state.
