WILMINGTON ANNOUNCES 2 MINORITY BUSINESS INITIATIVES

The City of Wilmington Office of Economic Development announced two minority business initiatives   as part of its annual Mega BizFest event on Oct. 11th.

The $10K Business Plan Competition awards up to $10,000 in prize money and business support services to aspiring and existing minority business entrepreneurs. The competition is open to individuals who have participated in business training programs throughout the state of Delaware as well as small businesses within the City of Wilmington.

Entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, professors, and other business professionals will evaluate the contestants.

The Wilmington Office of Economic Development is also accepting nominations for the sixth annual Thomas J. Moyer DBE Achievement Awards. The awards go  to small businesses, prime contractors, and corporations that have provided contributions and enhanced opportunities in the city.

The deadline for entries is September 15, 2012, with winners announced at the annual Mega BizFest on October 11, 2012 at the Doubletree Hotel in Wilmington, Delaware.
