Man robbed in New Castle Walmart parking lot

Delaware State Police are investigating the armed robbery and assault of a 41-year-old man that occurred Thursday evening in the Walmart parking lot off Route 40 in the Bear-New Castle area.

Troopers said that a man left his parked car at about 10 p.m. When he was confronted by two men, one with a handgun.

One suspect struck the man on the side of the head, knocking him to the ground. The men then took cash from the victim’s pockets.

The man was taken to Christiana Hospital where he was treated for minor injuries. The suspects fled in the direction of the nearby Wilton community.

The men are described as black males between 5 ft., 8 inches and 5 ft., 10 inches, with slender builds and wearing dark clothing.
