After 11 weeks of steady declines, gas prices are up, AAA Mid-Atlantic reported. The auto club reported the price at the pump has increased 6 cents since the start of July – but remains 72 cents lower than the record high of $4.11 set in the summer 2008.

In Delaware, the price at the pump ranged from $3.26 in Dover to $3.45 a gallon in the beach areas, according to AAA’s Fuel Price Finder.

A common price in northern Delaware was $3.40 a gallon.

AAA officials say the price increase is not unusual. While the decline in prices was due to lower crude oil prices – the current increase in the price at the pump is driven by supply concerns between tensions with Iran and striking oil workers in Norway.

In the region, inventories have tightened and news of operating problems at regional refineries sent prices up on the New York gasoline market.
