N.K.S. Distributors will pay half a million dollars to settle a campaign finance case.  The agreement means former Delaware Supreme Court Chief Justice Norman Veasey will not prosecute the New Castle-based beer distributor. Click on link below to read the court filing:

Veasey was appointed by Attorney General Beau Biden and is expected to issue a report later this year.

The case stemmed from the campaign finance activities of N.K.S . while under the leadership of former N.K.S. CEO Christopher Tigani.  was later forced out of his position at the family-owned company.

Tigani is now serving a prison term. N.K.S. did not admit or deny wrongdoing in the case.

“We thank Independent Counsel Veasey for his service to Delaware and look forward to his final report later this year,” Biden stated.

The court filing indicated that prosecuting the company might jeopardize its operations and the jobs of employees.

The filing indicated that N.K.S is undertaking a refinancing to ensure that it remains a going concern. The company has until the middle of this month to make the payment.

N.K.S. was founded in 1950 and became an Anheuser-Busch (now AB InBev) distributor  in 1960. It is now believed to be the state’s largest beer distributor and also handles the popular Samuel Adams and Corona brands.
