Crime beat: Man arrested in connection with WSFS hold-up; Tobacco store robbery

Delaware State Police Troop 2 Robbery Detectives have arrested Kenneth L. Wilson III, 51, of Wilmington, in connection with the robbery of the WSFS Bank on July 7 in Claymont.

Detectives were able to connect Wilson to the robbery and on Tuesday it was determined that Wilson was staying in a room at the Econo Lodge Motel on Coastal Highway, Rehoboth Beach At 5 p.m. the Delaware State Police Special Operations Response Team executed a search warrant on the motel room and took Wilson into custody without incident. Also found in the room was Karen L. Knorr-, 48, of Wilmington.

During the search, troopers located 74 bags of heroin totaling and drug paraphernalia.

Wilson was held  after failing to pay a $45,000 secured bond. Knorr was charged with drug offenses unrelated to the robbery.

Cigarette City hold–up

Robbery suspect.

Newark Police  are investigating an armed robbery on July 10th, 2012 at  5:30p.m.  at the Cigarette City in College Square Shopping Center.  The  male suspect entered the store, displayed a black handgun and demanded cash from the female store clerk. After receiving an undisclosed amount of currency the suspect fled the store in an unknown direction. The clerk was not injured.

Police want to talk to this man. He is not a suspect.

The suspect is described as a white male approximately 5 ft. 8 inches to 5 ft., 10 inches  tall with a medium build and dirty blond or brown hair.

The suspect was wearing a white short sleeved t-shirt with the word “tapout” on the front, dark colored shorts, a brown baseball hat, sunglasses, white ankle length socks and dark sneakers.

Investigators believe that prior to the robbery, the suspect had contact with an unknown white male who had been in the store prior to the robbery. This subject is described as a white male with a “chin strap” beard wearing a black baseball hat and dark  short sleeve shirt.

Investigators are seeking the public’s help to identify both the suspect who committed the robbery and the unknown male in the store prior to the robbery.
