Newark Police, aided by Cecil County, Md. deputies, apprehended an Elkton man in connection with a second robbery in recent days at a Dunkin Donuts on Elkton Road on the southwest edge of the city.
The robbery occurred at 7:53 a.m., Wednesday, when a white male suspect entered the store, sat down at a table. After several minutes, the man approached the register and placed an order. When the clerk opened the register, the suspect displayed a handgun, reached into the register and took an undisclosed amount of cash.
Through video surveillance and a phone tip investigators obtained information linking 22-year-old Jacob Harding to the robbery. At around 7 p.m., Newark detectives with the assistance of the Cecil County Sheriff’s Office, executed an arrest and search warrant of Harding’s home, taking him into custody without incident.
Harding was arrested by the Cecil County Sheriff’s Office as an out of state fugitive and is currently being held at the Cecil County Detention Center pending his extradition back to Delaware.
This robbery is not believed to be linked to the June 19th parking lot robbery at the same location.
In that incident, two males robbed a woman at gunpoint who had entered her vehicle after exiting the shop. The two black male suspects remain at large.
