Siemens, the German industrial giant, with a large medical technology operation near Newark, Del., is partnering on an electric-only vehicle that would employ technology from the company.
Such a vehicle would compete against the Fisker Karma and Tesla. Fisker’s plans to build a hybrid mid-size luxury vehicle in Delaware are on hold. Proceeds from a federal loan are being held back because the company has not met financial milestones.
It’s one of a number of pilot projects by the company and any production would be years away. But investments by giant global companies show that the technology could be poised for further advances.
