Greenwood man charged with double homicide

    Delaware State Police have arrested a Greenwood man in connection with the double homicide of an elderly man and woman.

     The investigation into this incident began at approximately 5:30 p.m.on April 26 after troopers were called to a residence in Greenwood. Neighbors reported
    they had not seen Harvey Cashwell, 76 and Carolyn Cashwell, 66 for some time.

    Troopers entered  the home at which time they found the bodies of the couple.

    Detectives learned that Michael P. Emory, 32, of Greenwood had been evicted from a residence he rented from the victims about  six month ago. 

    On Friday, Emory was apprehended  and arrested for Theft by False Pretense after it was determined he had allegedly pawned a ring belonging to Carolyn Cashwell. He was taken to Sussex Correctional Institution.

    On May 1, 2012, detectives obtained a warrant charging Michael Emory with murder and burglary charges. He was arraigned at JP Court 2 and is currently being held without bail at Sussex County Correctional.
