The 20,600 square foot facility offers shoppers the chance to try out equipment right inside one of the indoor golf hitting simulators or try to sink a putt on the large indoor putting green.
The new Golfsmith Christiana store, at 60 Geoffrey Drive off Churchmans Road near Christiana Mall, is Golfsmith’s 85th store. The grand opening marks the sixth new Golfsmith location opened this year. More than 20 associates were hired in the new Delaware location.
Golfsmith’s expansion is bucking a tough period for golf retailers. In the last decade, almost half of all golf retail stores in America closed, according to the National Golf Foundation. By the end of 2012, Golfsmith will have 89 locations from coast to coast.
“Golfsmith’s experiential concept will make most customers’ jaws drop. Our arrival in Delaware signals a new standard in retail to help golfers play better and enjoy the game more,” said Golfsmith CEO Marty Hanaka.
