Chesapeake Utilities Corp., Dover, announced that its natural gas marketing subsidiary, Peninsula Energy Services Company, Inc. (PESCO), has been selected by the Board of County Commissioners of Miami-Dade County to provide natural gas supply to the Miami-Dade Water & Sewer Department’s water processing plants in Miami and Hialeah, Fla.
Chesapeake operates natural gas utilities and gas marketing operations in Florida and the Mid-Atlantic region. The Miami-Dade Water & Sewer Department is the largest water utility in the southeast United States, serving 2.2 million customers each day.
“The Miami-Dade Water & Sewer District is a remarkable operation, pumping over 300 million gallons of fresh water per day to the residents of the Miami metropolitan area,” said Bill Hancock, general manager of PESCO. “We are excited to play such an integral part of the region’s public infrastructure through our supply of natural gas to the Department’s water processing operations.”
PESCO’s natural gas marketing operations serve approximately 3,500 commercial and industrial customers. PESCO currently provides natural gas supply services in Florida, Delaware, Maryland and Pennsylvania.
