The leader of the state’s blockchain initiative has taken a post with an international consulting firm.

Andrea Tinianow is now listed as chief innovation officer for Global Kompass. The company has offices near Wilmington and in St. Petersburg, FL.

“Founded in 2009, Global Kompass Strategies helps corporations and governments successfully take advantage of strategic business opportunities in the United States and around the world,” its website stated.

Tinianow joins company founder Michael Marquardt and Claire DeMatteis  at the company. DeMatteis was a long-time aide to U.S. Sen. and later Vice President Joe Biden.

Tinianow had headed Global Delaware, the world trade entity of the Delaware Department of State. She conceived the Delaware Blockchain Initiative (DBI) launched by then-Gov. Jack Markell in May 2016, to demonstrate the state’s support for distributed ledger technology and commit the State to use the technology in state government.  Tinianow  served as the Initiative’s director.

Blockchain allows documents and  transactions to move around platforms without the risk of alteration.

The technology is expected to gain wide use at financial institutions and within state government.

Global Delaware was part of a reorganization of the state’s economic development effort that jettiesoned the Delaware Economic Development Office in favor of a public-private entity (Delaware Prosperity Partnership) and an office housing small business, tourism and other activities handled by DEDO.

Department of State spokesperson offered the following update on Global Delaware and blockchain.

“The functions previously overseen by Global Delaware will primarily be transferred to the Delaware Prosperity Partnership, which will take up the charge of attracting new foreign investment to Delaware. The small business export program (SBA STEP Grants) will remain a function of the Department of State.

Dennison added, “Continuing efforts to explore how Blockchain technology can work for state government are also staying in DOS, with Deputy Secretary of State Kris Knight at the helm.”
