Delaware is the fourth least affected state when it comes to the overall effect of the brief federal government shutdown.
The Senate was expected to vote to keep the reopen the government, with the House expected to follow.

The state, despite being a drive of a couple of hours from Washington, DC, never saw federal facilities locate and expand in the state as Maryland, Virginia and even Pennsylvania.
Only recently did the state gain a national park, with that multi-site assemblage still in its early stages.
The shutdown has the greatest impact on the Dover area, home of Dover Air Force Base. The base has a large number of civilian employees who would be furloughed.
