Impact of the Government Shutdown on Delaware (1=Most Affected, 25=Avg.
42nd – Share of Federal Jobs
49th – Federal Contract Dollars Per Capita
33rd – Small Business Lending Per Capita
16th – Real Estate as a Percentage of GSP
51st – Access to National Parks
32nd – % of Children under CHIP

The state, despite being a drive of a couple of hours from Washington, DC, never saw federal facilities locate and expand in the state as Maryland, Virginia and even Pennsylvania.

Only recently did the state gain a national park, with that multi-site  assemblage still in its early stages.

The shutdown  has  the greatest impact on the Dover area, home of Dover Air Force Base. The base has a large number of civilian employees who would be furloughed.
