Delaware likes to keep Christmas candy on the traditional side.

The First State, along with neighboring Pennsylvania prefer candy canes, while neighboring Maryland prefers Reece’s Pieces. Placing second in Delaware was Pez, with Hershey Kisses coming in third.

Pennsylvania opted for candy canes, even though it is the home of Hershey’s.

Clair Robins of CandyStore.com noted that the National Confectionary Association estimates that holiday candy sales will total $1.93 billion this year. That’s a 2 percent increase over last year, which the NCA attributes to improved economic conditions and extra time.
