The owners of  Bardolino Italian Steakhouse in Concordville, PA    are offering a 10 percent discount until the end of the year  to those holding now-worthless gift cards for Mile High Steak and Seafood, the former occupant of the property.

Bardolino opened late last spring with a menu featuring steaks, seafood , and Italian fare.

He gift cards, which offered 50 percent off on meals, raised eyebrows in the restaurant industry, since steak is often a break-even proposition, with profits coming from drinks and other items.

A message which went to those who had been  on Mile High’s  Email list stated that the restaurant has received  a thousand or more  emails and phone calls asking about the gift cards.

“We want to let you know that none of the current owners ever knew, met or had any relationship with the owner of Mile High Steak and Seafood during the time they were in business. However, my wife and I unfortunately know first-hand of the gift card situation as we purchased them many times throughout the history of Mile High Steak and Seafood and even purchased $600 worth of gift cards right before they closed their doors last summer,”  the message stated.

“We have no involvement whatsoever nor was any money transacted with Mile High Steak and Seafood. The two restaurants have no relationship at all. We simply lease the space that Mile High Steak and Seafood once resided in and abandoned 12 months ago,” the letter stated.

The message claims sales of the gift cards ran into the millions of dollars. However, the owners of Bardolino received no gift card revenues, the message stated

Listed as the chef- owner of Bardolino on its website is  Jack Mavraj, who  opened  La Verona in Kennett Square, PA in 2011  News  accounts of the Concordville restaurant’s  opening  have listed other owners.

David Robinson, the longtime chef of Mile High, is listed as executive chef.
