Dyane Bunnell, clinical nurse specialist, Nemours Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders (NCCBD), Wilmington, was named the Certified Pediatric Oncology Nurse of the Year.As recipient of this national award, Bunnell is recognized for her outstanding contributions to the field of pediatric oncology nursing.
Among her many accomplishments, Bunnell has:
- Chaired workgroups and championed nurse-led initiatives for chemotherapy safety by refining workflows, integrating treatment plans and protocols into electronic health records, and implementing staff training and education.
- Co-authored dozens of poster and podium presentations for clinical nurses, and provided professional education at regional and national conferences.
- Earned the 2012 Marie L. Des Barres Award as Nurse of the Year at Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children.
Norine Watson, director of Nursing, said, “Dyane has ideas for constantly improving our care of children and families. She has been the driving force behind many groundbreaking programs and achievements at Nemours. Dyane innovates, educates and pursues excellence in all that she does.”
Bunnell will be honored during the 41st APHON Annual Conference next month.
