The Delaware Tech renewable energy solar program has been certified by the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP), making it the only college in the region with such a designation.
The NABCEP supports and works with renewable energy and energy efficiency industries, professionals, and stakeholders to develop and implement quality credentialing and certification programs for practitioners.
Students enrolled in the college’s renewable energy solar program learn solar photovoltaic installation and design. Enrollees study and work with both grid-tied and stand-alone photovoltaic systems, learning to evaluate and recommend energy solutions with greater efficiency and lower environmental impact with the added benefit of energy cost savings.
For students who graduate from the program, the NABCEP certification means they are eligible to sit for the NABCEP PV Entry-Level Exam. Successful completion of the exam demonstrates a fundamental understanding of the principles of solar photovoltaic installation, application, and design.
In addition to the program certification, Terry Campus Energy Technologies Department Chair Jennifer Clemons completed required training to become an NABCEP-certified instructor.
Separately, Delaware Tech has added solar systems at its campuses statewide.
