The office of  Maryland U.S. Rep. Andy Harris announced that  Orbital ATK  won a  Defense Department contract that will support and expand the facility in Elkton.

Orbital  ATK employs more than 400 people in Elkton, including some Delawareans.

The new contract will maintain  the workforce and support 20 new jobs, Harris’ office announced.

“ The work at this facility is focused on high-performance missile propulsion and control. I am proud to have supported funding for the program through the Missile Defense Agency, which competitively awarded the contract to Orbital ATK as a subcontractor to Lockheed Martin Space Systems Company,” Harris stated.

Orbital ATK  came out of an expansion and spin-off of ATK into defense and space systems. The sporting goods union was spun off into a separate company.
