Fire at vacant apartment building deliberately set

The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s office has determined that Tuesday night’s fire in Elsmere  was  deliberately  set.

The blaze, reported shortly before midnight occurred in the Fenwick Apartment complex in the 1300 block of Maple Avenue. 

The Elsmere Fire Company arrived on the scene with flames shooting from the three-story vacant apartment building.

State fire investigators were called to the scene and have been conducting the arson investigation. 

The fire was intentionally started inside the unoccupied building, according to the Fire Marshal’s office. 

  Anyone with information regarding this fire is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) TIP-3333 or the State Fire Marshal’s New Castle Division at (302) 323-5375.

Damage was estimated at $100,000.  There were no reported injuries.
