A “welcome home” rally is scheduled for Vice President Joe Biden and Dr. Jill Biden on Friday.

The Bidens are expected to take Amtrak from the inauguration of President-Elect Donald Trump to Wilmington.

“Even though those of us in Delaware know that Jill and Joe never really left, we want to take this opportunity to show our love, admiration, and appreciation for all that they have done for us, our state, and our nation, throughout a lifetime of faithful public service,” a press released stated.

The event is slated for 2:30 p.m. at the Chase Center on the Riverfront.  Gov. John Carney, Wilmington Mayor Mike Purzycki and the Congressional Delegation are expected to offer remarks.

The doors of the Chase Center will open at 1:00 p.m.  Backpacks and coolers are prohibited.
