Maryland man arrested on charges of posting threat against Markell

Delaware State Police charged a Warwick, MD man in connection with the posting of a threat against Gov. Jack Markell  on Facebook.

The investigation began on Sunday, November 6 after troopers were called to respond to a residence in Middletown. Warwick is a few miles away from Middletown.

Troopers were told by a female resident of the home, that she, as well as Gov. Jack Markell, had been threatened via a Facebook post from a man she identified as Roger M. Matthews, 51.

The woman advised that Matthews is a relative of one of her family members. Troopers then reviewed the post which did contain threats against Governor Jack  Markell.

On troopers were able to take Roger Matthews into custody without incident. He was then transported to Troop 2 in Bear where he was subsequently charged with Threatening the Life of a Public Official. He was arraigned at JP Court 11 and taken to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in default of $4000  cash bond.
