Wohlsen Construction Company names controller 

Wohlsen Construction Company announced that Angela P. Drayer has joined the firm as Controller and will oversee the company’s finances, ensuring that operations has the information they need to make informed business decisions.

Drayer completed her Master of Science in Business Administration degree at Penn State University and finished her Bachelors of Science in Accounting at the University of North Carolina – Wilmington. She has over 15 years of experience in professional services and the construction industry, and is a Certified Public Accountant and a Chartered Global Management Accountant.

Barends to head Delaware Tech Owens Campus 

Delaware Technical Community College’s Board of Trustees unanimously approved Dr. Bobbi J. Barends as vice president and campus director for the Jack F. Owens Campus in Georgetown, effective January 3, 2017.

Barends has been serving as dean of instruction since August 1, 2010. She began her career at Delaware Tech as department chair in the occupational therapy assistant department in 2007. During her tenure at the College, she also served as assistant dean of instruction and acting assistant to the campus director.

Prior to joining Delaware Tech, she served as assistant professor of occupational therapy at Elizabethtown College. Her career in higher education has included teaching, advisement, faculty and staff development, campus and collegewide planning and assessment, program development, outreach to K-12, higher education and community partners, as well as oversight of marketing and public relations, fundraising and grant writing, and budget development and management.

Barends has led numerous collegewide committees and working groups focused on learning communities, learning commons, supplemental instruction, developmental education and dual enrollment. She has held leadership roles in the College’s accreditation with the Middle States Commission on Higher Education as well as campus and collegewide program accreditations. Barends has also served as the instructional division liaison to the College’s Affordable Care Act (ACA) working group. She is an advocate for individuals with special needs and currently serves as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for Sussex County and serves on the board of Friends of CASA.

She has a bachelor’s degree in exercise science from the University of Pittsburgh, a master’s degree in occupational therapy at Misericordia University, and a Ph.D. in education from Walden University. She is a graduate of the College’s Leadership Development Program.

Perdue Foods names VP

Perdue Foods announced that Niki Rutter has joined the company as the Vice President of Customer Accounting and Master Data.

She comes to Perdue from Smithfield Foods in Smithfield, Va., where she was Senior Director of Customer Finance for eight years. She also served as the Finance Manager and Sales and SAP Analyst at Smithfield.

Rutter graduated from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA, where she earned an executive master’s degree in business and accounting. She earned her bachelor of arts degree in business administration from Salem College in Winston-Salem, N.C. She also holds a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) certification.

 

Delaware Wild Lands names board member adds staff

Delaware Wild Lands (DWL) announced a new member of the Board of Directors and the hiring of two new employees.

Carrie Lingo, Board of Directors Ltraveledelled all over the world as a member of the US Field Hockey Team. She was a member of the 2008 Beijing Olympics, multiple World Cup tournaments, and Pan American games.

She was inducted into the Delaware Sports Hall of Fame in 2015 and will enter the US Field Hockey Hall of Fame on November 19, 2016.

In addition to the DWL Board of Directors, she sits on the board of the Greater Lewes Foundation, serves as State Secretary for Ducks Unlimited, and helps fundraise for the Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Department.

Wendy Scott is the new Development & Marketing Manager.                      

Scott comes to DWL with more than two decades of experience in communications, public relations, and fundraising. She’s provided marketing services for a variety of non-profits and established companies, both as an employee and as an independent consultant. In addition to Delaware Wild Lands, her work with conservation organizations has included The Nature Conservancy, the Delaware Center for Horticulture, and Garden Media Group, a public relations agency in Kennett Square.

Projects Scott has written and produced have received multiple awards from the Delaware Press Association, National Federation of Press Women, and the Association for Garden Communicators.

In this newly-created position, her responsibilities include event coordination, communications, public relations, and cultivating relationships with donors, foundations, and corporations.

Brenna Ness  is the New Castle County Land Steward & Conservation Program Manager

Ness is originally from Illinois where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology from Southern Illinois University. She also completed a Master of Science degree in Wildlife Ecology from Iowa State University in 2015. In seasonal positions as a wildlife researcher, she’s studied shorebirds in Maine, waterfowl and white-tailed deer in Illinois, cougars in South Dakota, and greater sage-grouse in Wyoming. She completed a Master of Science degree in Wildlife Ecology from Iowa State University in 2015.

Most recently she served as a Waterfowl and Upland Game Researcher for the University of Delaware. In her new position, Ness is responsible for managing conservation programs, habitat restoration projects, and community outreach on DWL’s 6,000 acres of land holdings in New Castle County, Delaware.

WSFS Financial Corporation PA retail leadership team

WSFS Financial Corporation announced its new retail leadership team designed to support its growing network in southeastern Pennsylvania.

Crissy M. Kelly has been promoted to Vice President, Market Manager. Ms. Kelly joined WSFS as an Assistant Vice President and Retail Office Manager for the WSFS banking office in Devon, PA in 2014. She has a proven track record of managing teams, building relationships and developing engaged Associates. She was an integral part of the success of the Penn Liberty Bank conversion. She is a member of the Board of Directors of The Hickman.

Marc A. Matz has been promoted to Vice President, Market Manager. Matz has been with WSFS since 2011 and was most recently Retail Office Manager in Edgmont. He has led various initiatives to support the region and was instrumental in the successful integration of both Alliance Bank and Penn Liberty Bank. He an active community member involved in the Edgmont Township Business and Professional Association, the Newtown Square Business and Professional Association, the Greater West Chester Chamber of Commerce and the Delaware County Chamber of Commerce.
