Delaware meadery wins top awards in Texas

Mead from First StateThe state’s first meadery has won top awards in Texas.

Family-run Liquid Alchemy Beverages learned that their three entries into the Texas Mead Cup resulted in two gold medals, one silver medal, and a “Grand Champion” Loving Cup for best-in-show. The meadery opened a few weeks ago.

The business at 28 Brookside Drive, Wilmington specializes in mead, a wine made  from honey. The company has nine products.

Terri Sorantino, managing owner, said, “we were ecstatic when we opened the package and are honored that this prestigious award has a home in Delaware.”  Head brew master and co-owner, Jeffrey Cheskin said: “we strive to make a unique, delicious, well-balanced drink and it’s great to see that the experts of this caliber agree.”

Liquid Alchemy Beverages is currently open Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays and will be featuring food trucks, a craft hard cider highlighting Fifer Orchards cider and Holiday seasonals including a  Swedish wintertime beverage.   More information is available at http://www.liquidalchemybeverages.com/
