Sam_Bradford_2015Multiple sources, including NFL.com have reported that the Philadelphia Eagles have traded high-paid quarterback Sam Bradford to the Minnesota Vikings in return for first and fourth round draft picks.

The Vikings lost budding superstar quarterback Teddy Bridgewater to a serious knee injury that could potentially end his career.

Bradford was signed earlier this year to what is essentially a one-year deal and were able to move up to pick North Dakota State quarterback Carson Wentz  as their second-found pick overall.

Bradford has a history of knee injuries and has rarely played an entire season at the quarterback position. In the process, he has pocketed $75 million or more, despite being on teams with losing records during his career.

The move comes as the NFL continues to see record revenues from TV contracts and other sources. The Eagles are among the league’s most valuable teams, with a lucrative arrangement with the City of Philadelphia for Lincoln Financial Field. Forbes values the team at a whopping $2.4 billion.

The trade means that fans will have a greater opportunity to see Wentz, who was  ranked as the third-string quarterback on the team.

The Eagles also remain the most popular team in Delaware, with Lincoln Financial Field a short drive away for more than half of  the state’s population.

At the same time, The Baltimore Ravens have made inroads, thanks to quarterback and UD graduate Joe Flacco.  There are also pockets of support for the Pittsburgh Steelers, New York Giants, Dallas Cowboys,  and a  contingent of Washington Redskins fans in the Lewes-Rehoboth area.
