unknownThe Delaware State Chamber of Commerce’s (DSCC) Small Business Alliance (SBA) announced this year’s Superstars in Business award winners.

The Marvin S. Gilman Superstars in Business Award, named for one of Delaware’s leading small business entrepreneurs, honors businesses and nonprofit organizations for their outstanding achievements and model approaches to business and management. The awards are presented to companies that have been in business for at least three years, are small businesses based on the number of full-time employees, and are members of the Delaware State Chamber of Commerce. Awards of Excellence are also granted to deserving companies. Since 1998, Superstars in Business has recognized and honored businesses that have gone above and beyond.

Winners are as follows:

Special Olympics Delaware (Nonprofit category)
Special Olympics Delaware had a modest beginning in 1971 with just a few hundred athletes and competition in two sports. Today, the number of athletes actively involved in SODE has grown to over 4,000; each with the opportunity to train and compete in 20 sports. Special Olympics is dedicated to changing lives by providing year-round participation in sports training and athletic competition for individuals with intellectual disabilities and their families — providing them opportunities to strengthen their character, develop their physical skills, display their talents and fulfill their human potential.

 Metro Merchant Services (1-24 employee category)
In business since 1998, Metro Merchant provides merchants with the ability to process electronic payments important to doing business, such as credit cards and electronic checks. They offer many different avenues to help merchants streamline their processing, keep costs minimized, and easily track their payments. They also provide a wide array of services to help our merchants with their business needs such as ATM’s, e-commerce, website development, payment portals, shopping carts, etc. Metro Merchant’s emphasis on  customer service and employee training drive their success.
