Heavy truck dealer to open in Elkton area

Red_freightlinerTransteck, Inc., a Freightliner dealership with 13 locations in the Mid-Atlantic region, is expanding to 89 Belle Hill Road in Elkton, MD, a decision that will bring 40 to 60 new jobs to the area.

The company  will occupy a 50,000 square foot facility on 7.75 acres near Interstate 95 and the Delaware state line. “Our company is growing at a rapid pace and we’re excited to be able to have this opportunity to service some of our current customers, as well as future customers, over a wider area,” said Larry Hufford, dealer principal of Transteck.

Dan Rattay,  of CBRE’s  Wilmington office, represented both the buyer and seller in the transaction.

At its new location, the company plans to carry an inventory of new and used heavy/medium –duty commercial trucks for sale. The parts department will carry about a million dollars of inventory of Freightliner parts as well as a full line of aftermarket parts for most makes. The service department will offer Express Assessment with the goal of becoming a certified member of the Elite Support Network of Dealerships in the first year of operation. The dealership will be a certified warranty center for Freightliner, Detroit Diesel, Cummins, Meritor and Eaton and will provide maintenance and repair service for all brands of commercial and large recreational vehicles.

In December of 1999, Transteck opened its first Freightliner Dealership located in Harrisburg, PA. Since then the company has expanded to more than a dozen locations.

With Freightliner dominating the heavy duty truck market at over 40% market share, demand for more dealerships is at an all-time high. “We are excited to be able to support the local economy in Elkton,” said Tim Gates, service director at Transteck.

The dealership is eyeing a September 2016 opening. “We are pleased to welcome Transteck to our community. Their commitment is a testament to the economic opportunity that Cecil County represents in the Mid- Atlantic region,” stated Lisa Webb, Cecil County Director of Economic Development.

The company has 13 full-service truck dealerships, three dedicated truck and trailer collision centers, and a truck leasing/rental operation serving Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia.

Transteck was the second jobs announcement for Cecil County in recent weeks Earlier; German grocery Lidl announced pans for a distribution center in the western part of the county.
