Project SEARCH was recognized for achieving 75 percent employment outcomes for the 2014-2015 year.
The award recognizes the first graduating Project SEARCH class. That year, eight students completed rotation work assignments in 14 different departments at Bayhealth Kent General. Of those eight students, six secured competitive employment upon graduating and maintained that employment for more than 90 days.
The high school transitional program began in 1996 at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. An emergency room nurse saw the need for educational training programs aimed at helping young people with disabilities find gainful employment.
Project SEARCH at Bayhealth recently graduated the second class of interns, and the third year is set to begin in the fall.
