Ted’s Montana Grill, an Atlanta-based restaurant group, will open its first Delaware location in the Christiana Fashion Center at 3188 Fashion Center Boulevard.

The opening is set for November 2016, and will mark the restaurant’s 46th location. Ted’s closest location is in Warrington, PA, a suburb of Philadelphia. Ted’s also operated a restaurant for a time in Philadelphia.

Ted’s will join Zoe’s Kitchen and Zoup at the center near Christiana Mall. Reports also indicate that popular fast food chain Shake Shack may locate in the center.

The mall itself has added Brio Italian restaurant, Sixth and Pine, California Pizza Kitchen, Cheese Cake Factory and J.B. Dawson’s to its upscale casual offerings in recent years. Long-time occupant Ruby Tuesday’s closed.

“We are proud to announce our expansion to Christiana, an ideal destination for Ted’s as we continue our growth due to the restaurant’s ongoing success,” said George McKerrow, CEO and co-founder of Ted’s Montana Grill. “We look forward to bringing our Big Sky Spirit and unique bison and classic American offerings to Christiana and the rest of the Delaware community.”

The new location will bring more than 60 jobs to Newark. The restaurant is currently in the process of hiring for managerial positions, and will hold a job fair late this year. Applications can be submitted on www.tedsmontanagrill.com/careers.html.

Ted’s Christiana restaurant will include a 4,600 square-foot interior that is modeled after a 19th century saloon with wood-paneled walls, tin-pressed ceilings and mosaic-tile floors, including a bar and patio. The will seat 130 in the dining room and the outdoor patio will seat 30.

Selections include iconic, burgers, hand-cut aged steaks, chicken with no antibiotics, fresh fish and its specialty, bison. Ted’s offers the largest bison menu in the world, with entrees like bison nachos, bison chili and more than 15 bison burger varieties.

Ted’s also offers a gluten-free menu and a selection of custom cocktails, beer and wine.

Ted’s Montana Grill is part of the Greener Fields Together program that uses local farms offering sustainable produce. SeaShore Fruit and Produce Co. will source the majority of fresh produce for this location, providing ingredients from three farms: Butter Valley Harvest, Huntsinger Farms and Summit Harvest, all in Pennsylvania.

Ted’s founders pioneered the effort to preserve the American bison by returning it to America’s table, a release stated

These efforts helped increase the demand for farmers and ranchers committed to helping bison herds that are not approaching the half a million mark. Turner is one of the largest landowners in Montana.

Ted’s Montana Grill was co-founded in 2002 by Ted Turner, the media entrepreneur, environmentalist and philanthropist, and restaurateur, George W. McKerrow.
