McGlinchey named acting director of Riverfront Development Corp.

logo The  Riverfront Development Corporation of Delaware (RDC) announced the appointment of Megan M. McGlinchey to the role of Acting Executive Director, effective June 1.

McGlinchey’s appointment comes as a result of the leave of absence being taken by current Executive Director, Michael S. Purzycki, who running for mayor of the city of Wilmington.

McGlinchey has held various positions since she joined the state-owned corporation  in 1997, most recently serving as Deputy Director since January of 2014. In her role as Deputy Director, she has overseen the day-to-day operation of the Chase Center on the Riverfront, the Delaware Children’s Museum, the Riverfront Market, the DuPont Environmental Education Center, Riverwalk Mini Golf, and Horizon Riverfront Rink.

“Megan has been an integral part of the RDC’s management team for several years, and the Board is thrilled that she has agreed to take on this new role,” said Peggy Strine, chair of the board of directors. “The members of the Board are confident in her abilities to lead the organization during this time of transition.”

McGlinchey is currently the Chair of the Governor’s Tourism Advisory Board, a member of the board of directors of the Greater Wilmington Convention and Visitors Bureau, Kalmar Nyckel Foundation, and the March of Dimes; and she serves as the Chair of the Delaware Zoological Society.

McGlinchey was born and raised in the city of Wilmington. She is a graduate of the University of Delaware, with a Master’s Degree in Public Administration, and she received her undergraduate degree from the University of Miami. McGlinchey lives in Brandywine Hundred with her husband and daughter.
