A Chilean restaurant that operated for a few years on Ninth Street in downtown Wilmington is closing its doors on Wednesday.
Pochi announced the closing after about four years at the downtown location.
“Sadly, for reasons beyond our control, Pochi will be closing its doors for the last time. We are at a loss for words by which to express our gratitude to our loyal patrons and friends. That being said, we will be ending on a celebratory note,!” A Facebook message stated.
The restaurant’s location on Ninth Street is a short distance away from the redevelopment that is taking place along Market Street. A retail and restaurant area, Ninth Street has been struggling with a changing downtown environment.
Some help is on the way with a $75 million project to replace the Mid-Town Parking Garage with parking, retail and apartments.
The restaurant became well known for its empanadas, tasty filled with meats and cheeses as well as other specialties from the South American nation.
It joins Bistro Jacques as a top 10 restaurant in Wilmington that closed its doors. At present, Pochi is ranked No. 1 on the user review service.
