PSD-5_IsoTherm_hero_b_1100x290DuPont  announced  that Allied Energy has selected DuPont  IsoTherming hydroprocessing technology for its ultra-low diesel (ULSD) project at its Transmix Processing Facility in Birmingham, AL.

Development  began in July 2015, with project startup anticipated by August.

IsoTherming  hydroprocessing technology is licensed and marketed by DuPont as part of its Clean Technologies portfolio in Overland Park, KS.

Today, DuPont has 25 IsoTherming  licenses globally, with 11 of  that number   in commercial operation.

IsoTherming  technology is  used for  kerosene hydrotreating, transmix hydrotreating, diesel hydrotreating, FCC feed hydrotreating, mild hydrocracking, dewaxing, gas-to-liquid (GTL) upgrading and heavy oil.

Licensed IsoTherming  unit capacities range from 1,500  barrels per day  up to 80,000 barrels per day  processing feedstocks such as 100 percent kerosene, 100 percent light cycle oil (LCO) and various mixtures of distillates and heavy gas oils..

Refiners are looking for ways to increase production. At the same time,   more stringent environmental regulations and the processing of  less expensive  sour and heavy feedstocks make meeting this demand even more challenging, a DuPont release stated.

Typical hydroprocessing techniques use hydrogen in contact with a solid catalyst to remove sulfur and other contaminants from petroleum liquids.  IsoTherming  hydroprocessing technology employs a novel reactor system that is superior to conventional  technologies by using the hydrogen and catalyst more efficiently.

IsoTherming technology offers the refiner lower capital and operating costs while significantly reducing sulfur content in motor fuels, the DuPont release stated.

The  Clean Technologies portfolio includes STRATCO  alkylation technology for production of clean, high-octane gasoline; IsoTherming hydroprocessing technology for desulfurization of motor fuels; MECS® sulfuric acid production and regeneration technologies; BELCO air quality control systems for FCC flue gas scrubbing and other refinery scrubbing applications; MECS  DynaWave  technology for sulfur recovery and tail gas treating solutions; and a comprehensive suite of aftermarket service and solutions offerings.
