Matt’s Fish Camp chef named

Scott Kammerer, president of SoDel Concepts in Rehoboth Beach,  recently announced that Maurice Catlett will be the opening chef of SoDel Concepts’ ninth restaurant, Matt’s Fish Camp in Lewes.

The Dover native, who’s been with SoDel Concepts for seven years, most recently as the chef at Fish On in Lewes, started out in the industry as a dishwasher. “Maurice is probably the greatest success story in our hospitality company,” said Doug Ruley, corporate chef and vice president of SoDel Concepts, which also owns and operates Plate Catering and Big Thunder Roadside Kitchen, a food truck. “Through dedication, skill and hard work, Maurice has become an accomplished chef. He’s received awards and accolades, and he’s such a pleasure to work with.”

The new Matt’s Fish Camp, which is scheduled to open in June, is in the former site of Donut Connection in Tenley Court on the southbound side of Route 1. The space has undergone extensive renovations, including an expansion that offers 25 percent more room. When complete, the 3,200-square-foot restaurant will seat 90 people in the dining room. It will also have a 12-seat bar and raw bar.

Catlett and Ruley have created a menu that pulls from the Matt’s Fish Camp location in Bethany Beach yet also offers popular dishes from the other seven restaurants.
