A Brazilian steakhouse will open on April 15 at the Newark Shopping Center.
Churrascaria Saudades announced the opening on its Facebook page and on its website.
The restaurant was first announced about a year ago, as a tenant for the shopping center, which has been undergoing a major renovation, the Newark Post reported at the time.
At that time, the opening had been slated for late summer of 2015.
The Brazilian steakhouses have been gaining popularity in this country, thanks to chains like Fogo De Chao that have restaurants in Philadelphia and Baltimore.
Prices at Fogo in Philadelphia can range from $35 for lunch and $52 for dinner with meat and salad bar. However, a smaller chain Rodizio Grill offers dinner for less than $30 in Allentown, PA.
The concept came out of Brazil, where it is often known as Rodizio.
For a fixed price, diners are served various cuts of steak, chicken or pork served on skewers by waiters in all you can eat format. A version of a salad bar is also offered. Dessert comes at an additional price.
A menu for Churrascaria Saudades has not yet been posted on its website.
Saudades is not the first Brazilian steakhouse in the state. A restaurant in Millville in Sussex County operated in a shopping center for a time.
