Delaware Blue Knights to hold annual Ride to the Tide

Delaware Blue Knights – Chapter 1 will hold their 10th annual Ride to the Tide on Sunday, April 17. (Rain date is Sunday, April 24).

Delmarva Power is cosponsoring this fundraising event which involves hundreds of motorcyclists taking part in a police-escorted ride from Smyrna to Rehoboth, DE, in support of Special Olympics Delaware. The event is limited to the first 1,000 motorcyclists.

Bikers will depart from Rommel Harley-Davidson in Smyrna at 11:30 a.m. Pre-registration is $25 per rider, $15 per passenger (Day-of registration: $30 – rider; $20 – passenger). The ride will end around 1 p.m. at Jake’s Seafood House in Rehoboth, where bikers and passengers will receive a complimentary lunch.

More than  950 bikers and more than 350 passengers raised $43,000 in last year’s ride and more than $183,500 has been raised in the event’s nine-year history.

Delaware Blue Knights – Chapter 1 promotes the sport of motorcycling as well as all safety aspects involved with it. The organization’s annual fundraising activities benefit local charities.

Other supporters of Ride to the Tide include Delaware Law Enforcement for Special Olympics, Delmarva Broadcasting Company, WBOC-16 and Fox 21 Delmarva.
