Mitchell Associates, Wilmington, provided signage for the new Kent County Courthouse in Dover.
This new 148,600 square-foot complex was constructed adjacent to and connected with the historic 1697 courthouse in the capital city.
The Mitchell graphics team designed a complete interior and exterior signage system for the new facility that included courtrooms, administrative offices, and inmate holding areas.
Exterior signs were designed to complement existing government center colonial style architectural elements. Interior signage was designed for the new transitional interior spaces and incorporated components to allow frequent sign message changes for daily court operations.
The sign system also included messaging and sign placement for the operation of security and technology enhancements built into the new facility to accommodate high volumes of people coming to the courthouse and more secure management of inmates entering and exiting the building. Architects for the project were: Moeckel Carbonell / Ricci Greene Associates.
