The National Weather Service has cut projected snowfall totals from a storm that the area on Tuesday.
A Winter Weather Watch has been issued for northern Delaware and a portion of central Delaware. A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect for an area to the north of Delaware.
In anticipation of winter weather, the Delaware Department of Transportation pretreated New Castle County roads with brine and was putting salt down on Tuesday.
Snowfall will be lower in areas to the south, with less than an inch at the Delaware beaches. One question mark is the temperature, with forecasts of slushy conditions and melting during the storm.
Accuweather stayed with the two to a four-inch prediction that had been widely reported on a Sunday.
The approach of the storm was overshadowed by Super Bowl coverage on TV, especially on CBS, which carried the game and offered exhaustive coverage of pre and post-game events in a bid for ratings.
On Tuesday, snow will fall before 9 a.m., then rain and snow between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m, with snow after 3 p.m. High near 37. Northeast winds of 12 to 17 mph w light will become light in the afternoon. The Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New snow accumulation of 3 to 5 inches possible. Snow will taper off before 1 a.m. on Wednesday.
Coastal flooding is possible at the Delaware beaches and locations along the lower portion of Delaware Bay.
