PATS Aircraft Systems, Georgetown, has changed its name to Aloft AeroArchitects.
The new company name is the result of a detailed market positioning study, resulting in recommendations for PATS to best align its go-to-market branding with the reality of what’s happening in PATS’ business today and the strategic outlook for its future, a release stated.
The name denotes the company’s history and work in customizing aircraft at the Delaware site. Aloft employs more than 300.
The PATS name will remain as a product line for extended-range, auxiliary fuel systems. The company was recently selected by Boeing to become the supplier of the BBJ MAX auxiliary fuel system.
In addition to the existing line of applications for the 737NG, 757, 767 and CRJ200, Aloft is also working with several fuel system partners in Europe and Asia to develop solutions to extend the range of their aircraft products.
Aloft is known in aviation circles for customizing aircraft that are being retired from airline or other service, with tank systems used to extend their range. Markets include businesses, wealthy families and governments.
The Aloft AeroArchitects hangar services business will continue to service the Boeing Business Jet community.
The company is reporting a strong backlog of business in certifying aircraft that are being upgraded and converted to other uses.
