Ward named to Nemours board 

Gina F. Ward of Wilmington has been named to the Board of Managers – Delaware Valley of The Nemours Foundation.   Ward is a veteran of the health care industry and has served on a variety of area non-profit boards and committees since moving to Delaware with her family in 2002.

A native of South Bend, Ind.,  Ward graduated magna cum laude from the University of Notre Dame, where she obtained a bachelor’s degree in accounting. For more than a decade,  Ward was a health care executive with Baxter International, a global health care company.

During that time, she received her CPA certificate and held positions in accounting, corporate finance and health care consulting. As a consultant, she provided operational consulting to hospitals across the United States.

In Delaware,  Ward has lent her  energy to health care and children’s causes. She was appointed in 2012 by  Gov. Jack Markell to the Delaware Health Resources Board, charged with promoting the efficient use of health care resources across the state. At St. Francis Hospital in Wilmington,  Ward has been an advocate, ambassador, and Foundation Board Chair, involved with operations and fundraising. She also serves on the board of the Rodney Street Tennis and Tutoring Association, which brings athletic and academic enrichment to  children in the city.

Cousins joins Bayard law firm

Bayard, P.A., a Meritas member law firm based in Wilmington, announced  that Scott D. Cousins has joined the firm as a Director.

Scott has more than  20 years of experience in the restructuring field. He has participated in many of the largest and most complicated business reorganizations, out-of-court restructurings, workouts, liquidations and distressed sales and acquisitions in Delaware’s state and federal courts.

He has also appeared in many bankruptcy jurisdictions across the country. In addition to his restructuring expertise, Scott has wide-ranging experience in commercial transactions derived, not only from his 15 years in private practice but from his role as in-house counsel for two large energy related companies.

From 2005 to early 2009, Scott served as General Counsel of NextEra Energy Resources LLC, a clean energy leader and one of the largest competitive energy suppliers in North America. At NextEra, Scott oversaw all legal aspects of the company’s activities. Before entering private practice in 1996, Scott worked in the corporate legal department for The Columbia Gas System, Inc., where he focused primarily on the chapter 11 bankruptcy cases of Columbia and its subsidiary, Columbia Gas Transmission Corporation, until they successfully emerged from bankruptcy protection in 1995.

Three fellowship-trained medical oncologists/hematologists have joined the medical team at Beebe Healthcare’s Tunnell Cancer Center. Fellowship-trained physicians have additional years of advanced study and experience in their specialty fields and have participated in expanded clinical, educational and research programs.

Three cancer specialists join Beebe

The three fellowship-trained and Board Certified cancer specialists are: Porselvi Chockalingam, MD, Philomena Marie Colucci, DO, MS, and Nataliya Melnyk, MD. Tunnell Cancer Center invites the public to meet the physicians at an open house on Thursday, November 6, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The open house will take place at the Center, Beebe Health Campus, 18941 John J. Williams Highway, Rehoboth Beach.

Dr. Chockalingam, known to her patients as Dr. Selvi, is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Oncology and Hematology.

She treats all types of cancer and blood disorders. Chockalingam joined Beebe with patient care experience at the Martinsburg VA Medical Center in West Virginia, and in private practice in Harrisburg, Pa.

Dr. Colucci joined Beebe from Munson Medical Center in Traverse City, Michigan. She completed her Fellowship in Oncology and Hematology at Michigan State University, College of Human

Medicine.  In her third year, she was appointed Chief Fellow.

She is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Hematology, and Oncology, and has published several research articles in peer-reviewed medical publications. She graduated from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. She treats cancers of the breast, bladder, colon, esophagus, kidneys, lungs, pancreas, and prostate, among others.

Dr. Melnyk joined Beebe following completion of her Fellowship in Hematology Oncology at Rutgers-Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, N.J. While there, she participated in several cancer research efforts, including those for advanced melanoma and sarcoma. She also has completed research on hematological abnormalities in pregnancy and neurological syndromes associated with tumors.

Dr. Melnyk earned her medical degree in 2002 at the Ternopil State Medical Academy in Ukraine, and completed her internal medicine residency at the Jersey Shore University Medical Center. She is Board Certified in Internal Medicine.

Miller gains certification

The National Court Reporters Association (NCRA), has announced that Timothy R. Miller has earned the nationally-recognized Certified Realtime Reporter (CRR) certification, reflecting his  knowledge of  technology and proficiency and accuracy of reporting.

Miller, from Georgetown, Del., is a member of NCRA and has worked as a court reporter for six years.  He also holds the professional certification of Registered Professional Reporter (RPR). Miller is currently a court reporter for the Superior Court of the State of Delaware.

Swartz joins CNB as AVP

CNB, a member of Shore Bancshares community of companies, announced that Teresa Swartz has joined the bank as an Assistant Vice President and will be serving customers throughout Kent and Sussex counties in Delaware.

Swartz comes to us with 27 years of experience in the banking industry.  She began her banking career in 1987 with the Bank of Illinois as a Corporate Non-Credit Processing Clerk in Champaign, Illinois.  In 1993, she took a position with The First National Bank of Wyoming where she worked for over 21 years before joining CNB.  In her most recent role at The First National Bank of Wyoming, Swartz served as Assistant Vice President and Branch Manager at the Wyoming branch.

Swartz is a lifelong resident of Delaware.  She was born and raised in the Smyrna-Clayton area and resides in Clayton with her husband, John.

Berkshire welcomes associates

Bill Lyons, manager of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Fox & Roach,  Realtors, Newark Office, welcomed  Natalie Davis as a Sales Associate.

Davis was previously with Evergreen Property Management. She is a member of the New Castle County Board of  Realtors  and resides in Townsend. Davis serves New Castle and Kent Counties.

Lyons,  also welcomed  Lily Huang as a Sales Associate. Huang is a member of the New Castle County Board of  Realtors. She resides in Newark with her husband, Qun, and their daughter. Huang serves New Castle and Kent counties.

Gail Renulfi, manager of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Fox & Roach, Realtors  Hockessin Pike-Creek Home Marketing Center, welcomed Stephanie Bray as a  Realtors.

She resides in Landenberg, Pa. with her husband, Steve.  She has four children and two grandchildren. Bray serves New Castle County.
