Gov. Jack Markell lifted a limited emergency declaration on Wednesday, but advised drivers to remain cautious.

“If you have to go out on the roads today, please drive slowly and carefully,” said  Markell.  “Hundreds of DelDOT employees have worked through the night and morning to improve road conditions, but snowy and icy spots still exist and drivers should exercise caution.”

Wind chills remained around zero and even with the sun being out, little melting was expected.

Delaware Department of Transportation crews worked through the night and were beginning to tackle secondary roads Wednesday morning. State offices were closed on Wednesday, with the University of Delaware opening at noon. Christiana Mall will open at 10 a.m., but mall officials said some stores might be closed.
