The Delaware Department of Transportation’s (DelDOT) contractor, Cherry Hill Construction, will be periodically redirecting traffic overnight on various dates in February by closing Interstate 95, restricting lanes or closing ramps to expedite the installation of steel beams over I-95.

DelDOT recommends motorists avoid construction and seek alternate routes during these times. All closures, restrictions and associated detours will be signed before and during construction activity. The work is necessary to build the new interchange.

These closures are dependent on weather conditions and will be rescheduled if needed.

Anticipated Dates and Times:
Friday, February 15 and Saturday, February 16
I-95 Southbound CLOSED just south of Exit 4A (to Route 1 southbound) from 10 PM until 10 AM both nights.

I-95 Northbound left three (3) lanes closed at Exit 4A from 10 PM until 10 AM each night

In order to mitigate anticipated backups on I-95 Southbound Exit 4A, traffic is encouraged to exit I-95 at the SR 141 interchange, travel south to US 13 Southbound, south to SR 273 Westbound then back to I-95.

The I-95 ramps to Churchmans Road and SR 1 Southbound will remain open during the closure of I-95 Southbound.

Friday, February 22 and Saturday, February 23
I-95 Northbound CLOSED just north of Exit 4A (to SR 1 South) from 10 PM until 10 AM both nights.

I-95 Southbound left three (3) lanes closed between Exit 4A and Exit 3 from 10 PM until 10 AM each night.

I-95 Northbound single lane restriction in the vicinity of the Rest Area will start at 7 PM, with two lanes restricted after 8 PM.

In order to mitigate anticipated backups on I-95 Northbound Exit 4A, traffic is encouraged to exit I-95 at the SR 273 interchange and head eastbound to SR 1 Northbound, back to I-95 Northbound. The I-95 ramp to SR 1 Southbound will remain open during the closure of I-95 Northbound.

Monday, February 25 through Thursday, February 28
I-95 Northbound lane restrictions will occur from 11 PM until 5 AM.

Variable message boards have been placed to notify motorists of the upcoming closures and restrictions.

Motorists can adjust their routes or travel times by using DelDOT’s Smartphone application. The DelDOT App is available for Android and iPhone users and can be downloaded free at the Google Play and Apple stores.
