Jack Markell joined U.S. Sen. Tom Carper and DEDO Director Alan Levin for an announcement regarding the relocation of the Big League Softball World Series.
“When you have a community coming together as we did to make this happen, that is a significant opportunity for Delaware,” said Markell. “Working together, we’re going to knock it out of the park.”
The Big League Softball World Series is moving to Sussex County and, beginning with the 2013 season, the Senior League Softball and Big League Softball World Series tournaments will share the facility and be played simultaneously during the week of August 4-10.
The Senior League Softball World Series brings about $1.2 million dollars to Sussex County each year. It is estimated that adding the Big League Softball World Series will bring an additional $800,000. The championship games are televised live on ESPN.
