Delaware State Police detectives have released surveillance photos of the suspect wanted in the Penn Bantam Market robbery/homicide of Hemantkumar Maganlal Chauhan, 57, of Newport. Chauhan died of knife wounds suffered during the robbery. The market is near Route 141 in Newport.
Detective are conducting interviews, reviewing video surveillance, attempting to identify the suspect. Detectives have fielded leads and tips generated by initial media coverage, interviewed neighborhood residents, distributed flyers. Detectives are asking the public’s continued help in identifying the suspect shown in the surveillance photos.
The suspect is described as follows:
– Black male, unknown age, 5 ft., 10 inches to 6 feet tall, 180 lbs, with a muscular build. Last seen wearing black hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, royal blue baseball cap, white sneakers, gray scarf covering face to disguise identity, and blue latex gloves.
